The CHS
girls track team ended its regular season last week at 1-7, but
despite the small size of the team, several track team members
qualified for the state meet.
According to
coach Chris Elgar, three relays qualified and numerous
individuals on the 29-member team.
In the most
recent meet against Sharon a tough, 74-62 loss Geneva
Poshkus qualified in the triple jump, as did the 4x100 relay
team of Erica Guenthner, Shirley Han, Molly Phalan and Julie
Joseph.

Despite a

jump) and Radiya Buchanan (400-meter dash) joined the growing
ranks that have qualified for the Class C meet.
Rocco was
challenged in the 800 but held on for a great personal best (and
league best) time, to remain undefeated on the season.

Foxboro
Meet
It was
another close meet but not in Cantons favor, as the Warriors
came out on top, 77-59.
We gave
Foxboro our best and along with it many were great performances
including Anna Amico making states in the 100 and narrowly
missing in the 200, said Elgar.
He noted
that DOrazio, in her first attempt at the 800, placed third
with a respectable time of 2:42.
Teague,
trying the mile for the first time, also placed third, with a
time of 6:07.8.
First place
spots were earned by Amico, (tie), 100-meter dash, 12.8 seconds;
Pezzone, 100-meter hurdles, 17.5 seconds; Rocco, 800 meters
