Happy
holidays with Netgear’s Digital Entertainer
High-fives
were realized during last week’s annual Black Friday run — or so
we thought…
As we stood
frozen in line for over two hours with cups of warm, caffeinated
brews on hand — just to gain first-come finds at the big box
stores — we all thought a very successful mid-night/morning run
was achieved.
Like a good
stake-out, each store’s layout was planned well ahead for the
mad dash — along with the inside tracks obtained prior on
www.black-friday.net for sales yielding our mission — leaving us
with more than enough time to assess, price out, and attain our
goods, with each of us performing marathon runs at the
best-hyped stores as we lunged for the gold.
DVD
converters were bought; iPods were purchased; PC and laptop
bundles were snatched-up; under-sold LCD and plasma TVs were
being wheeled out the doors; and Harmony remotes were being
thrown into the shopping carts, if nothing more than to tie
things all together…
Okay, we
gals all drove home, went to bed for about an hour, and
staggered to coffee shortly after a tad of shut-eye, so that we
could share our day’s gossipy finds with each other. What a
dedicated group we are.
What was
uncovered was this…
We all
seemed to go for what were advertised as the “hot items” of the
holiday season — or so we thought. But there was one even hotter
item that none of us knew to include front and center on this
year’s holiday list: Netgear Digital Entertainer HD EVA8000.
The Netgear
Digital Entertainer HD EVA8000 is just too cool! This product
exceeds expectations and truly enables a new level of media
enjoyment. If you’re looking for a way to view or listen to
digital media files stored on a PC or other storage drive on a
TV or stereo system, look no further.
The Digital
Entertainer HD automatically discovers HD movies, TV shows,
music files, and personal photos on a home network, across
multiple computers, and organizes them into a single media
library that is displayed on a TV without the need for media
server software running on a computer.
Digital
Entertainer HD users can play HD movie downloads, as well as
stream HD movies and Internet videos to their TV from Web sites,
like YouTube.
The Digital
Entertainer HD can access photos directly from Web sites, such
as Flickr, without a computer. Music lovers can enjoy an
improved audio experience by listening to their iTunes libraries
and iPods on their home theater system. The Digital Entertainer
HD even plays Internet radio directly, and can access RSS news
feeds, NOAA weather and maps.
The remote
control gives users the ability to search their entire media
library by multiple criteria, including title, actor, date,
genre or thumbnail images (from photos, album art or DVD
covers).
The HDMI
port displays video resolutions up to 1080p on big-screen TVs
and the optical digital audio output (TOSLINK) transmits full
digital surround sound to digital audio receivers.
If PCs have
an optional TV tuner, consumers can even schedule recordings and
pause or rewind live broadcasts without the need for an
additional DVR device.
And if there
are multiple Digital Entertainer HDs in the home, the “Follow
Me” feature enables consumers to pause a video in one room and
resume it in another, while “Party Mode” lets users synchronize
music playback for whole-home listening.
To
differentiate the EVA8000 from other A/V streaming products in
the market, Netgear made installation simple, gave it an
attractive, easy-to-navigate interface and designed it to stream
the widest variety of photo, video and audio formats. It also
displays brilliant high-definition video at up to 1080p
resolution.
